Luminate December 2022

This year we were treated with not one, but two separate Luminate events – Botanical Gardens, Carmarthenshire, and, Margam Country Park, Margam

Both of these venues had similar light displays, but obviously in different orders and the lights were set to bounce off the venues own trees and buildings, making each venue unique in it’s own way. Both trails took an average of between 1 and 1.5 hours to complete, depending on the queues of people stopping to have various photos taken with the different lights.

During the walk around there was the chance to stop off for a bite to eat or have a warm drink of coffee from the various food and drink vans or in-house shops that were open, even fire pits to have a quick warm or toast marshmallows – though nice to have, the prices were a bit steep for the portions given.

It was nice to see that most of the lights from last year were again there, some were missing but had been replaced with newer, more interactive lights which was great for the families to allow their children to play with.

The photos were all taken with my Fuji X-H1 mirrorless camera, fitted with a Fuji XF 16-55mm f2.8 zoom lens, due to the vast amount of people attending this years events, it was difficult to get any clear shots of the lights and using a tripod was practically a no-go so photos were all hand-held which meant the timings were a bit tight and affected some of the images.
