Luminate at Margam Park, 18th December 2021
Wow – is the one word to describe this phenomenal event.
Margam Park, a large country park situated in Margam, South Wales gets a transformation of a lifetime, a transformation that is truely magical. The grounds of the country park have been filled with a mass of spectacular lights, illuminating buildings, trees, walkways and even the stream that runs through it.
The journey through the park sees you follow a complete circle around, where you are treated to some well engineered light arrangements and, accompanied by ambient music, along a trail that is around 1 mile in length and took us just over 2 hours to complete – average is around 1 to 1.5 hours but, having to stop and allow passers by to capture some of the incredible sights was worth the extra time it took to complete, and also the cold that encompassed the night.
Along the route, there is an option to sample mulled wine, get a bite to eat and even toast some marshmallows on an open fire pit.
As you pass the main castle, where the display that you are greeted to, a show stopper of a display I must admit, you have the opportunity to leave a wish, for someone loved, someone missed, just about anything you want, and place it amongst that have been written and placed by others who have walked the walk.
For those who are eagle eyed enough, there are fairies dancing around inside bird cages, towards the latter part of the walk.
The photos were all taken with my Fuji X-H1 mirrorless camera, fitted with a Viltrox 23mm f1.4 prime lens, all hand-held and hoping to capture the magical ambience of the night.
